Skilled workers in the care of the elderly currently earn 53 per cent more than in 2015. This is the result of the new wage atlas of the Federal Employment Agency. In hardly any other occupational field have wages increased more in recent years than in the care of the elderly.
The employers’ association bpa sees the results as proof “that nursing care for the elderly is a secure and well-paid job”. For over ten years, the wages of care workers in this sector have been rising at an above-average rate.
For foreign care workers who want to gain a foothold in Germany, working in nursing care for the elderly is an interesting option: it is usually easier to get started than in the hectic everyday life of a clinic – and the pay is often even better.
