Start your medical career in Germany!

You are already a doctor and want to take the step into one of the best healthcare systems in the world - we will help you!

How do you get recognised as a doctor in Germany?

If you want to be professionally recognised as a doctor from a so-called third country (non-EU) in Germany, you have a somewhat longer and sometimes not so easy way ahead of you. But as important as it is to be aware of this from the start and to have realistic expectations: it is worth making the effort to end up with a licence to practise as an assistant doctor and later as a specialist doctor in Germany.

In any case, you need an employer. We at Signite help you to find a clinic that wants you as a specialist and as a person and that supports you on the long way until your professional recognition.

The main milestones are determined by passing the professional language exam (language level German C1) in Germany. After that, you will receive an initial, restricted professional permit. You will then be examined in your field of expertise (knowledge examination) in order to receive your licence to practise medicine and subsequently be allowed to work as an assistant doctor. At the same time, you will begin your specialist training in the area in which you will eventually work as a medical specialist or have existing specialisations from your home country recognised.

Checklist - what is needed:

German at B2 level for interview

Employer

Specialist language test in German at C1 level

Specialised knowledge test

Occupation as assistant physician

Status as medical specialist

For all this, we at Signite and our partners in Germany are by your side. To give you the necessary security and support to follow this path with the best possible confidence and the necessary perseverance.
