Sars-Cov-2: Booster query only for new employees in Bavaria

In Germany, a so-called facility-based vaccination obligation currently applies to all persons working in medical care. This means that hospitals, rehab providers and nursing homes, as employers, must ensure that staff are vaccinated against Corona with vaccines recognised in the EU. From October, even stricter rules for proof of immunity will also apply.

But the whole requirement expires at the end of the year and so far there is no regulation for after that. The issue is the subject of much debate. The German Hospital Association is against an extension, as it now considers it no longer necessary. Since Germany is organised in a federalist way, the individual federal states have to a certain extent the possibility to decide for themselves how to proceed.

Bavaria is now going its own way. The stricter requirements for proof of immunity as of October are to apply only to newly employed workers. For all others, it will remain the same.

This means that the vaccination status only has to be checked if one starts work as a new nurse in Bavaria from October onwards. As of October, persons are only considered fully vaccinated after the third Corona vaccination (in Germany the third vaccination is called booster vaccination) or with two proven vaccinations plus proof of recovery.
