Orders come in, but cannot be fulfilled. For the construction of heat pumps, the installation of solar systems, the laying of pipes and lines… More would be feasible. But the lack of suitable personnel is a brake, everywhere and persistently.
Recruiting competent auxiliary and skilled workers from abroad is increasingly becoming a sensible and important option for your own entrepreneurial development. In order for a skilled worker to be able to live and work permanently in Germany, professional recognition in a skilled occupation is usually required. And only those who have a professional qualification in their home country that basically corresponds to the German reference profession can be recognized.
This can be challenging given the very differentiated German vocational training system. Electronics technicians, pipeworkers, construction machine operators – in Germany, these are three-year training courses and require a comparably long, independent qualification in the country of origin for professional recognition. This is not the case everywhere. A sought-after profile can therefore often not be recruited from every country. We at Signite have this detailed knowledge of the local training structures and professional qualifications and are happy to advise you on what is possible in relation to your specific needs.
The vast majority of three-year dual training programmes in Germany belong to the non-regulated professions. For them, there is no statutory regulation on the exercise of the profession. Therefore, no state agency is required for the procedure to recognise the vocational qualification.
Depending on the qualification or profession, the IHK Fosa (centrally in Nuremberg) or the regionally responsible chamber of commerce are responsible for checking the equivalence. The comparison of the foreign vocational qualification with the German vocational qualification results in a certificate that shows any deficits. Signite ensures on behalf of all parties involved that the application and required translations are correct and secure.
When the foreign employee finally arrives, he or she is already looking back on a long journey. For you as the employer, the real job now begins. In addition to providing active support for integration and familiarisation, you are responsible for implementing the so-called “compensatory measures”, most of which are practice-related.
This refers to technical content that is required by the notice of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Fosa or the Chamber of Crafts in order to close the gaps in competences specified there. You can think of it like a work placement or parts of an apprenticeship. Often these measures extend over several weeks or months, while your new employee is already working in the company and taking on more and more jobs independently.
Some of them are restricted by legal requirements, for example if there is no official qualification for the German reference occupation in another country. In part, it is their wishes or requirements, such as special skills or professional experience, that determine our sourcing, the search for suitable profiles on behalf of their company.
One thing is certain: the more openly Signite sends us on the search, the greater the chances of receiving interesting applications. We are happy to undertake the recruitment on your behalf – without obligation and free of charge. Our country portfolio allows for a broad search and thus many opportunities to find the right person for your team.
